Petition: Rangel to Step Down from House Leadership
Representative Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) is a twenty-term member of Congress representing New York’s 15th district. Rep. Rangel’s ethics issues are so vast that even the liberal Citizen’s for Responsible Ethics in Washington have called him one of the most corrupt Members of Congress.
Among the many charges lobbied against Rep. Rangel is he improperly leased four rent controlled apartments; failed to report rental income from a vacation property; and traded legislative assistance for contributions to a personal project. Just last week, the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct rebuked Rep. Rangel for improperly accepting Caribbean trips from corporations in 2007 and 2008.
Any of these charges are scandalous enough alone, but they are compounded when you realize that Charlie Rangel is the Chairman in charge of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee – the very committee that writes many of the laws Congressman Rangel is accused of breaking! Please sign our petition asking Speaker Pelosi to remove Charlie Rangel from his position as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Removal is necessary until he is either cleared of the charges or until the investigations are completed. A man who very likely has broken a number of laws should not be in charge of writing them!
Please sign the Family Research Council petition asking Speaker Pelosi to remove Charlie Rangel from his position as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
